And he takes Basil’s crown

I really thought that Basil Marceaux was the biggest idiot running for office. Not true……
Chris Young wins.

I’m not generally amazed by how far technology has come, but I came across this photo.

Guess what it is? It is 1956, and it weighs about a ton.
It’s made by IBM if that helps…….
That my friends is a 5MB hard drive for a super computer.
OK….ordinary I’d stay out of Tennessee politics. But this video is just magic.
Seriously, if he isn’t the next governor of the volunteer state I don’t know what they are thinking.
Yes folks, he is seriously on the ballot in the state. His website is fun too. I think my cat actually has better grammar. http://politics.freesitenow.com/basilmarceauxforgovernor/
That’s right, he just redirected the URL to a free site. He didn’t even pay the $10 to have a real host. And WordPress is free dude. I coded a better looking site in 1992.
The thing is I just know this guy is going to be sitting around on November 2 wondering if he won. I don’t think he’ll be up late waiting for them to count.
Update: Basil only managed 0.4 percent of the vote. I’m a little bummed. But he is still running for a Congressional seat.
Oh….and he’s been in and out of mental hospitals. He actually had traffic violations dismissed for “reasons of insanity.” Can someone explain to me how that even works???
We went to Flagstaff over the weekend and it was awesome being out of the heat. It even rained most of the time, but it was still nice.
We stayed at the MonteVista which is a hotel that has been there since 1927. The room we were in was supposed to be haunted…which amused the crap out of me. Everyone wondered why I laughed. People are morons and will believe anything.
Oh…speaking of morons, we went to Lowell Observatory. The first one asked if a star was like a planet or a galaxy. I guess she never had third grade science. But then we got to look though one of the telescopes and we see this:

And the angle resolution is pretty much just the way I recall. My seven year old takes one look first, and says “It’s Saturn.” I get to look and a guy comes up behind us. He had to ask. It’s amazing………
We also hit Walnut Canyon. It was a short trail, but lots of stairs. It’s also at 6000 feet which makes it a bear to keep your breath. But it was really pretty and the cliff dwellings were impressive.
Finally we stopped at Riordan Mansion which was pretty impressive. Its on the Northern Arizona University campus and is a state park. But it is a arts and craft style house and well worth seeing.
I’d post pictures, but I forgot the camera.
I’m pretty happy with the way it looks now. I just have to fix a few things on my wife’s site that pull off mine…namely the photo gallery. As soon as I get that, I’ll direct both URLs into this.
Update: It is totally live now with both URLs landing on the WordPress installation.
I’m in the process of converting my site to WordPress. The old site is still available at warrenharley.net
